PVR Cinemas launches 11-screen multiplex in Lucknow

Bengaluru:  Indian multiplex chain PVR Ltd, after its merger with Inox Leisure Ltd., has announced the launch of a new multiplex at Lulu Mall in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The eleven-screen superplex has a seating capacity of 1841 audiences. With the new launch, PVR will now have 158 screens across 32 properties in Uttar Pradesh.

The newest outlet was inaugurated by Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor in the presence of Ajay Bijli, managing director of PVR Ltd. The cinema is equipped with SP4K laser projectors that deliver ultra-high resolution, advanced Dolby Atmos surround sound and Real D 3D digital stereoscopic projection.

“Lucknow’s biggest cinema hall is now open,” claims the company in a social media post. “This is the most advanced cinema with 11 screens and hosts a wide variety of formats such as IMAX, multi-sensory 4DX, premium large screen format PXL, two auditoriums of PVR’s luxury format Luxe,” the post said.

Recently, PVR Cinemas opened a 4-screen, 786-seater multiplex in Faridabad at Pebble Downtown Mall, Mathura Road, which is the company’s 3rd property in the city. In January 2023 the multiplex operator celebrated a brand-new milestone of opening 900 screens in its 25 years of journey and launched three new multiplexes with a total of 19 screens in Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Gurugram on the same day. Headquartered in Gurugram, PVR Ltd. was founded by Ajay Bijli in 1997. The company established India’s first multiplex cinema in 1997 at Saket in New Delhi.

The two multiplex operators PVR Ltd and Inox Leisure Ltd. announced a merger in March 2022. The merged entity now operates 438 screens in 100 properties in North India and 1,653 screens in 355 properties in 113 cities across India and Sri Lanka.
