Reliance Retail has opened 12 new stores of John Players and 5 new stores of Lee Cooper in different locations across the country

New Delhi: Reliance Retail, India’s largest retail company by revenue, has opened 17 new stores in January 2023 announced Gaurav Agarwal, head of retail business – mid-premium brands, Reliance Retail Ltd. in a LinkedIn post.

The high number of store openings in a single month is testimony to the fact that the retail company is ramping up its expansion plans for this year. 

The companyhas opened 12 stores of John Player in Mysore, Tumkur, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Rewari, Amravati, Rewa, Jaipur, Motihari and Tikamgarh and five stores of Lee Cooper in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Nizamabad, Hyderabad and Jaipur. 

Launched in 2002, John Players is a mid-segment menswear brand. The brand was acquired by Reliance Retail in 2019 from the ITC group for an estimated Rs 150 crore ($21.79 million).

Founded in 1908 in London, Lee Cooper is a clothing and footwear manufacturing company, specialising in denim products. The brand is responsible for bringing denim jeans to the UK market. Reliance Retail acquired the brand from Future Group in October 2021.
