Must Read

The third edition of the Kolkata Fashion Week (KFW), scheduled to begin next week in its new avatar as the Indian Fashion Carnival, has been postponed indefinitely. With a spotlight on Mahatma Gandhi and his love for traditional Indian fabric Khadi, the three-day event was slated for a September 10 beginning with promises of being the city`s biggest fashion extravaganza.

"The event has been postponed for the time being due to certain unavoidable circumstances and operational difficulties, but we promise to return to you soon to announce the new dates for the Indian Fashion Carnival," said Pratik Sen, Director, Mindscapes One, the organisers of the event.

Besides renowned Bangladeshi designer Bibi Russell, the event had announced names like Zubair Kirmani, Rohit Kamra, Bhairavi Jaikishan, Riyaz Gangjee and Soumitra Mondal as participating designers.

After two back-to-back editions of KFW in 2009, the February season was also cancelled as a result of a feud between the ramp managers of the event. A breakaway faction of the KFW, was similarly canceled days ahead of the event after the sponsors backed out.
