Indian Retail School (IRS), India’s premier retail management institute recently organised a unique workshop on Visual Merchandising at its campus. The objective of this workshop was to create awareness among the students and retail professionals about the evolving but unexplored Visual Merchandising and Store Design domain. The workshop was conducted by Surbhi Jain, Programme Leader of PG Diploma in Visual Merchandising & Store Design, Indian Retail School.

Commenting on the growing importance and scope of visual merchandising, Surbhi Jain said, “It is important for students to understand what is visual merchandising and store design. This is an area where the Indian retail industry, particularly, the small retailers lack adequate knowledge and expertise. This inadequacy is best reflected in poor presentation or display and communication in various retail formats”.

Speaking on this occasion, Tarun Panwar, Chief Executive Officer, Indian Retail School said, “This workshop is a platform for the participants to identify the potential in them and start thinking about innovative fashion.”

The workshop showcased the transformation of retail over ages in context to visual merchandising and product presentation. A comparative analysis was conducted to communicate the gap between Indian display standards vis-à-vis international standards.
