Salt – Swarovski`s new magazine

Must Read

Swarovski announced the launch of Salt, a brand new magazine born out of the synthesis of Swarovski’s previous publications Crystallized and Rocks. With a clear focus on the multi-faceted use of crystals in fashion, jewellery, accessories, interior design and architecture, the cutting edge bi-annual publication celebrates the dynamically diverse collaborations for which Swarovski is renowned.

The launch issue of Salt features exclusive interviews with some of the most inspirational designers and creative minds who have collaborated with Swarovski. Konstantin Grcic explains his revolutionary crystal laminates produced for SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS at Work initiative; Zaha Hadid discusses her awe-inspiring cooperative projects; and David Rockwell talks about the crystal curtain he created for the 2010 Oscars. Salt also covers the Swarovski Crystal Palace installations at Milan’s Salone del Mobile – which demonstrate Swarovski’s creative expression and innovation in lighting and design.

Swarovski’s role within the fashion world is celebrated with an avant-garde photo spread featuring shots taken on the streets of Manhattan by acclaimed fashion photographer Guy Aroch; coverage of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS` 22 Ways to Say Black, which sees the LBD (little black dress) reinterpreted by the likes of Philip Lim, Giorgio Armani and Valentino; articles on Hussein Chalayan and Rodarte; and an homage to the late Alexander McQueen by leading fashion journalist Sarah Mower, with whom Swarovski enjoyed a long and fruitful working relationship.

In line with Swarovski’s commitment to nurturing up-and-coming design talent, Salt profiles the winner of the Central Saint Martin’s college jewellery design competition, sponsored by Swarovski. Salt delves behind the scenes to champion Hollywood costume designers – the unsung heroes of the silver screen, and showcases the latest collection of Atelier Swarovski, by such design luminaries as Karl Lagerfeld, among others.

A striking shoot by Italian husband-and-wife team Coppi Barbieri highlights the latest innovations to grace the latest SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS product range, while renowned photographer Tom Mannion interprets Swarovski’s trends for Autumn/Winter 2011/12.

Salt is published by Show Media under Editor-in-Chief Peter Howarth, the former Editor of UK Esquire and Arena, and Style Director of GQ. The worldwide distribution of the publication began from 1 September 2010, with a cover price of €12.00.
