Lectra to host tech workshop

Lectra, one of the leading integrated technology solutions for industries that use soft materials, textiles, leather, industrial fabrics and composites, has announced its continued support for educational programs that promote technology in the apparel industry through its participation in the 2010 ITAA Annual Conference October 27 – 30 in Montreal, Canada.

The conference is visited by scholars, educators, and students in the textile, apparel, and merchandising disciplines in higher education. In North America there are more than 100 leading universities implementing Lectra software solutions are dedicated to the fashion, apparel industry. One of those educational partners is Cegep Marie-Victorin, the premier fashion school in Canada.

Together, Lectra along with the school have been selected this year by the ITAA community to host a workshop entitled Digital Fashion Supply Chain and Integration of Technology Solutions for Preparing Next Generation Fashion Professionals

The program is designed to illustrate how technology can be adopted in the educational environment. The hands-on workshop will explore traditional apparel development processes and allow attendees to interact with technology solutions that can streamline the apparel creation process. Attendees will also hear a real-life industry adaptation of these solutions from the fashion school.

Francine Nadeau, Director of Public Affairs of Fashion School Cegep Marie-Victorin, said, “Lectra provides Cegep Marie-Victorin with the tools we need to keep up with the growth we are experiencing. With their innovative solutions and support, we are training future fashion designers with Modaris and Diamino, two extremely innovative solutions. We are excited to team up with Lectra for this innovative workshop.”

The company has a long standing partnership with ITAA and their involvement extends throughout the conference. At the ITAA Resource Exhibit, Lectra will display an array of its software solutions dedicated to the fashion industry from Kaledo – their professional fashion and textile design platform — to its benchmark pattern-making and high performance virtual 3D prototyping solutions — Modaris, and Modaris 3D Fit.

In addition, Lectra sponsors several awards that honor top faculty and graduate students. Winners will be announced during the conference`s Live Gallery fashion show. “We are pleased to participate in ITAA again this year as we are very committed to fashion education community.
