Mumbai: Areopagus

Must Read

The quiet interiors of Shivaji Park, Dadar just got a hip new address – Aeropagus. Translated as the temple of healing in Greek, Areopagus is designed as the first Japanese spa in Mumbai.

“Most spas in the city thrive on Thai, Swedish or Balinese therapies. We are the first and the only spa that has introduced a host of Japanese therapies which are more suited for the Indian bodies. We make all our therapists go through a rigorous nine months training before putting them to work,” explains Sagar Y Pagar, who co-founded Areopagus along with Bhuongthangmawi.

The 1,200 square foot spa is a reflection of Japanese art in the form of motifs, intelligent use of bamboo and wood textures. Crystal chandeliers, rippling water fountain, soothing lighting and soft music set up the peaceful atmosphere. The lower level is for body spa. At the upper level there are three dedicated chairs for foot spas. Additionally they also have hand and foot reflexology, facials, body wraps, head massage and invigorating neck rubs to relieve stress and anxiety.

The various massages are priced at Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000; reflexology therapies at Rs 600 to Rs 1,750, facials at Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,200 and body wrap between Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500.

Color combination: Red and brown with use of natural materials like wood, bamboo and cane

Lighting: Dim, mood lighting and chandeliers

Location: Matunga West, Mumbai .
