Himalya International ties up with US grocery chain ALDI

Himalya International Ltd (HIL), Himachal Pradesh-based Indian food processing giant, has signed an agreement with the US-based grocery chain ALDI to sell its products in the US under the brand name ‘Himalya Fresh’, said a company press release.

“As per the agreement, ALDI stores will sell Himalya Fresh that includes frozen vegetables, baby potatoes and breaded appetisers through its nation-wide chain of 1,000 retail stores in the US,” said Manmohan Malik, chairman, HIL.

“ALDI will sell around USD 3-million worth products of Himalya Fresh in a year and the first consignment of 100 tonnes of frozen vegetables and breaded appetisers will be sent to the US next month,” added Malik. ‘The company would sell baby potatoes worth around USD 4 million in the US this year and these potatoes, being lower on starch and higher on fibre content, are healthier than large size potatoes.”
