Bihar State Women’s Development Corporation (BSWDC) has planned to open ‘Fresh Vegetable’ outlets in Patna and Nalanda districts of Bihar. The outlets will be run exclusively by women and retail vegetables and fruits.
Announcing plans, Irina Sinha, the project director of BSWDC, informed that no male member will be engaged in the outlets. The products will be sourced from vegetable vendors in those two districts.
This move by the organisation, Sinha said, will help create a circle of prosperity by bringing rural women into the mainstream and also provide them employment opportunities.
Initially, these outlets will be owned by the corporation, and soon a federation of women will be formed and the stores’ management will be transferred to them.
