PVR looks eastwards

This financial year will witness the Rs 180-crore multiplex chain PVR Cinemas foraying into eastern India. PVR is looking at locations like Rajarhat, Howrah, Siliguri, Durgapur and Orissa, and plans to effectively tap the opportunities in tier II and III cities with low ticket-price multiplexes under the PVR Talkies brand. Over the next 2-3 years, a series of PVR screens will be launched simultaneously. The investment is stated at Rs 2.5 crore per screen. PVR currently operates 80 screens across the country.
