Starbucks to take the Pantaloon way to India

The world’s biggest coffee-shop chain, Starbucks, has confirmed its plans to enter India, in partnership with New Horizon. Kishore Biyani and V.P. Sharma jointly own New Horizon, with 49 and 51 per cent share respectively. Mr. Sharma Heads PT Mitra Adiperkasa, Starbucks’ Indonesian franchisee, which operates 45 Starbucks outlets in Indonesia. However, this entry in the Indian market is subjected to the government approval.

Starbucks is the world’s biggest coffee-shop chain, with over 12,440 stores worldwide. Company sources say that the first outlet will roll out in New Delhi followed by Mumbai. The outlets are salted to open by this year end.
