Bengaluru: Multinational movie theatre circuit Cinépolis has launched its new multiplex in Kerala located at Mall of Travancore, Thiruvananthapuram, the shopping mall wrote on social media.

Covering an expansive 50,000 sq. ft. of retail space, this marks Cinépolis’ first establishment in South Kerala. The multiplex comprises seven screens with a total seating capacity exceeding 1,500, inclusive of two VIP screens.

“The Mall of Travancore welcomes 2024 with an all new Cinépolis experience for the first time in South Kerala. This 50,000 sq. ft. multiplex will be one of the largest multiplexes in the state,” said the mall in a LinkedIn post on Monday.

The cinema chain operates two more multiplexes in Kerala, situated in Kochi and Kozhikode.

Cinépolis entered India in 2009 as a fully owned subsidiary and as the first international movie exhibitor in the country. Since then, it has established a strong footprint with a total screen count of 448 in over 98 multiplexes across 40 cities in the country.

Founded in Mexico in 1971, Cinépolis claims to be the world’s second largest movie theatre circuit by attendance, operating over 868 cinema complexes, more than 6,699 screens and over 1,12,45,77 seats across 19 countries, serving millions of patrons worldwide, with a global workforce of more than 24,831 people to support its mission.
