LG Electronics India has hired Saif Iqbal to shape its e-commerce strategy by December. India’s largest white goods maker plans to launch televisions, white goods and smartphones exclusively for online sales so as to minimise conflict with brick-and-mortar retailing and Saif will be heading the department to help company fulfill its goals.
Earlier, he was associated with Snapdeal.com – India’s largest online marketplace as Business Head for Electronics Category (Computers, Home Entertainment and Appliances). He was heading the Innovation function earlier, to develop new business and growth areas.
He has also worked as Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy and Development at NetApp – a Storage & Data Management leader with over $6 billion in revenues.
Iqbal has a Management Consulting background with A.T. Kearney in India on strategic engagements and PE investments across sectors like Telecom, Infrastructure/Logistics, Oil and Gas. He has also worked for Goldman Sachs in New York in their Private Wealth Management Division – substantial exposure to financial products/modeling, investment strategies and risk management.
He is an MBA from the Indian School of Business, Masters in Computer Science from Rutgers University – US, and undergraduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.
