Power Grid Board invests Rs 885 crore for transmission

The board of Central utility Power Grid Corporation of India has announced an investment of Rs 885 crore for various projects in order to boost up transmission and amplify transformation capacity.

In a BSE filing, the board declared “investment approval for strengthening of transmission system in India for transfer of power from Mangdechhu hydroelectric Project in Bhutan at an estimated cost of Rs 808.63 crore, with a commissioning schedule of 22 months progressively from the date of investment approval.”

As per sources, the board also gave an investment approval of Rs 76.48 crore for the amplification of transformation capacity at Mainpuri and Sikar. A commissioning schedule of two years has been decided from the time of approval.

The equities of Power Grid Corporation in Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO) will be handed over to the central government as a further procedure.
