Subway reworks rental strategy, plans more stores

Must Read

Subway India, the leading sandwich chain which operates through the wholly-owned subsidiary — Subway Systems India — is reportedly reworking its rental strategy. The sandwich chain is looking to enter into a profit-sharing model with landlords instead of a flat rental system.

On the other side, the chain is also planning to double its store presence in east India to 12 and enter cities such as Darjeeling, Siliguri, Durgapur, Asansol and Guwahati. By the end of fiscal 2011 it plans to have 25 stores in the region. The chain has also recorded 18 per cent boost in sales in April this year, compared to the dip which it experienced last year.
