Spring Air to open shops in India

The US-based mattress manufacturer The Spring Air Company, through its Middle East licensee WJ Towell & Co., has formed Spring Air India, and plans to open around 30 Spring Air branded outlets in the country by 2010. The company has also firmed up plans to set up three manufacturing facilities, which will produce around 500 pieces a day.

Announcing plans, Bob Hellyer, CEO, Spring Air, said: “This endeavour will provide us a great footprint in one of the fastest-growing consumer markets in the world.”

According to the company’s release, around seven per cent of the retail bedding market in India is dominated by the innerspring products and is expected to reach 25 per cent in the next five years.

Founded in 1926, The Spring Air Company is one of the world’s largest mattress manufacturing and distribution companies. Its popular brands include Back Supporter Classic, Back Supporter Four Seasons, Nature’s Rest, and Chattam & Wells.
