After withdrawing its operations in Uttar Pardesh due to protests, Reliance Retail looks determined to do business in Orissa.

Scarcely two days after a forced closure of the first outlet, Reliance Retail today opened its second store in the state.

The company inaugurated the store at around 9 am in the morning but no protests were reported until the filing of this report.

“No one created any trouble at the RRL’s outlet, the police is alert to thwart any possible resistance,” city DSP Sarat Sahu said.

RRL’s first store in the state was closed down within two hours of its opening on October 7 due to protests from local traders under the banner of All Orissa Roadside Vendor’s and Small Shop Association (AORVA).

A company executive said that though they closed down the first outlet on first day it remained open on next day.

“We are determined to open at least three Reliance Fresh outlets in the state capital by Dusshera,” he said.
