Illinois state employees of the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will not be able to sue the company as a group, for being forced to work through breaks and not paid overtime pay.

The grant of class-action status to a suit by some former employees was refused by Judge Mark VandeWiele in Rock Island, Illinois. This means that the company will not have to pay millions of dollars to over 223,000 current and former employees.
