Audi Fashion Festival- Singapore Starts on a High Note

Must Read

Audi Fashion Festival 2014, which takes place in the heart of Singapore’s shopping district on Orchard Road, kicked off with the red carpet gala night. The curtain-raiser for the annual event hosted a fashion showcase by designer Rubin Singer from New York.

Singer, who comes from a family of couturiers, captured the imagination with his works of elegant style and sophistication, treating the audience to his spring/summer 2014 collection entitled ‘The Serpent Queen’ with a luxurious seduction of outfits inspired by the Pharaoh Queens of ancient Egypt, namely Hatshepsut, Nefertiti and Cleopatra as well as the Egyptian Cobra Goddess Uatchit.

The latter half of the show saw the Fall/Winter 2014/2015 collection which was inspired by Santiago Calatrava’s El Puente de la Mujer Bridge in Buenos Aires. The tapestries indeed gave the impression that the models were dipped in steel and concrete, but worn with grace and distinction – presenting a very powerful visage down the runway.

Audi Fashion Festival’s schedule official begins on 14 and ends 18 May. Showcases to look out for include Nepalese-American Prabal Gurung and Singapore’s Ong Shunmugam.
