The fight for Mumbai International Airport’s duty-free shop is about to enter the second round. The tenders for the duty-free shops are about to close. Sources in the know have confirmed that there are only five contenders in the fray, which include Dufry Interglobe, Nuance Shoppers JV, DFS group, the Alpha Future JV and the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), with Aldeasa.
The airport in question is the busiest in the country and earns revenue of over 50 crore. The bid for Mumbai International Airport is going to close on 23 February and contract is said to start by first week of June 2007. Experts say that the bid for the Duty-free shop at the Mumbai International Airport will go up to Rs. 700 crore, one of the highest in Asia.
