Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali group is exploring the possibility of opening a food processing unit in the state.
According to a report in PTI: “Patanjali Group wants to set up a food processing unit and for this the group has scouted places near Pithampur Industrial Area (in Dhar district). We will help Patanjali Group as per our food processing policy to set up a unit,” Chouhan said.
“ITC Ltd too has shown interest in setting up a unit in the food processing sector. The state government will help the company,” he added.
Patanjali’s revenue grows
According to a Religare Capital Market Report, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved Ltd grew 125-150 per cent during the fiscal year to Rs 4,500-5,000 crore from Rs 2,000 crore a year-ago.
And that’s not all. The company which manufactures and markets everything from flour, ghee, biscuits, noodles, spices to honey and toothpaste aims to continue growing at 100-125 per cent annually for the next three years.
Patanjali to invest in e-commerce
Patanjali Ayurved, the FMCG venture promoted by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, will invest Rs 1,000 crore next year on expansion and plans to sharpen focus on e-commerce and exports.
Patanjali Ayurved has significantly narrowed the gap with FMCG majors such as Dabur, Marico and Godrej Consumer as the Baba Ramdev-led firm has more than doubled its sales in the past year to nearly Rs 5,000 crore.
The company plans to raise funds through bank term loans or corporate bonds as it aims to double its production capacity to 2,000 tonnes a day by the end of 2016-17.
Patanjali food park in Mihan
To set up a food park of Patanjali Yogpeeth at Mihan, Nagpur, the Maharashtra government is holding talks with yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The government is seeking land from him to set up the food park.
During the question hour, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister Maharashtra said, “There has not been any land allotted to Patanjali in Mihan as yet. But, we are in talks with them. They have a highly successful food park at Haridwar, which is a Rs 5000 crore business, which helps farmers directly.”
The government is also planning to dedicate 500 acre space to develop Agro Processing Industries at Mihan and special incentives will be provided for the purpose. The multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Mihan (Nagpur) is the biggest development project currently underway in Nagpur in terms of investments.
Patanjali raises Rs 320 cr
Popular all over the country for its medicines, food, personal care and groceries, Baba Ramdev’s Pantanjali Ayurved Ltd (PAL) is all set to raise a debt of Rs 320 crore. This money will be used for research, development, expansion and the launch of new products.
Functioning from Haridwar (Uttarakhand), PAL has three units which are tirelessly working towards manufacturing health care and domestic products; chemical free and natural. It has become a reliable brand for food items, specially with the newly launched noodles in its list.
The company has narrowed its gap with consumer product companies including Dabur, Marico and Godrej Consumer as the Baba Ramdev-led firm more than doubled its sales in the past ten months.
