On-demand food tech company Faasos goes app only

Must Read

Given the ever growing nature of smartphone and internet penetration in India, on-demand food ordering and delivery company Faasos has gone app-only today, following the likes of Myntra and Ola, who also operate through app.
Faasos, which is run by Pune-based Faasos Food Services Pvt Ltd, had launched its mobile app last year. Currently, the fast-food chain claims to be processing 150,000 orders a month through the mobile platform.
“About 97% of our customers place food orders via the app, which has 8,00,000 downloads currently and we expects to hit a million downloads in a couple of weeks,” Revant Bhate, Head of Marketing, Faasos, said in an official statement.
At present, the company serves wraps, biryanis, desserts and more from over 100 outlets across 10 cities. It has operations Mumbai, Gurgaon, Delhi, Pune, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Indore. “Surprisingly, even tier II cities have shown tremendous traction for ordering via the App,” Bhate added.
The company believes that in addition to increase in number of orders its app has some  distinct advantage sover the web platform.
“Imagine the consumer seeing a different menu, during breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner at every location that he/she is present in along with a dynamic estimated delivery time based on the product you order and how far one is from the delivery location. We have built this propriety technology inhouse and is the World’s first Food business to provide these features real time. All this is not possible when someone orders via a phone call or through a website,” Bhate asserts.
Fasoos had garnered USD 20 million (just over Rs 120 crore) in investment led by Lightbox Ventures earlier this year. Sequoia Capital, which had led an USD 8 million series A funding round in the firm in 2011, had also participated in the latest round.
