Centre for Retail of Birla Institute of Management and Technology (BIMTECH) has launched Retailia, an e-newsletter to provide its students an interface with the retail industry.
The newsletter is published by the students of retail and merchandising management (PGDM-RM) and reflects institutional philosophy and brand vision. The first issue includes an array of articles on talked-about subjects like FDI in retail, a feature called ‘Retailer of the Month’, and an interview with a prominent person from the industry.
Appreciating the students’ move, Dr H Chaturvedi, director, BIMTECH, said, “To think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted, and this e-newsletter is an innovative idea, far different from the traditional method of getting newsletter.”
“The newsletter will prove to be an informative source for the students as it will become a podium for them to exchange their views and ideas on retail, as also get their case studies and researches published and discussed. Such initiatives by retail students are motivating and encouraging for the business of retail, as these students here are the pillars of tomorrow’s industry,” said Vijay Bajaj, GM, online media, Images Group. Bajaj was guest of honour at the launch of Retailia.
With the aim to educate professionals and scholars on the business of retail, the Centre for Retail in BIMTECH was set up in 2002. The centre offers a two-year post-graduate diploma in retailing and merchandising management, and a one-year post-graduate diploma in retailing and merchandising for executives (PGDRMX).
