Australian initiative for processed food pie in India

Must Read

The UK-based AB Mauri, a global yeast and bakery ingredients manufacturer and supplier, has become a part of the marketing initiative to sell food products directly at retail outlets in India. Australian government’s National Food Industry Strategy (NFIS) and Austrade supported by some other Australian government agencies, along with a group of 12 major Australian food producers, are coalescing in the programme.

NFIS Ltd Managing Director Dr Susan Nelle said India’s rapidly growing middle class presented an exciting opportunity for Australian and Indian food companies. “There’s a growing trend for Indian consumers to try western-style foods and Australia has a strong international reputation for clean, green products of the highest quality,” she elaborated.

Several local retailers in Bangalore are partaking in the initiative, including FoodWorld, Monday-to-Sunday, Nilgiris and Namdharis. The initiative will include in-store promotions to update consumers about different products.

Australian brands involved in the initiative are Uncle Tobys, SPC, Edgell, Tandaco, Green’s, Nanda, CTC Food, Fountain, San Remo, Cottee’s and Meadow Lea. Some of these brands are already available in the country.
