Singapore-based food chain Komala’s in India

Must Read

Komala’s Restaurants, South Indian fast food chain from Singapore, entered India with master franchisee Primary Cuisine Pvt Ltd earlier this week. The first outlet, measuring 3,000 sq.ft, is located at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai.

The company plans to roll out two more company-owned outlets in 2010 and seven more outlets in 2011 in Western and Northern India. As master franchisee, Primary Cuisine Pvt Ltd will roll out first few outlets followed by a subsequent sub-franchisee model with a preference for multi-unit franchisees in major Indian metros.

“Initially, for the two outlets, we are looking at Mumbai or places close to Mumbai such as Thane and Pune since we wish to keep a close eye on quality and a firm grip on the operations. It will be easier to manage with that kind of geographic proximity,” Gautam Shewakramani, director – business development, Primary Cuisine Pvt Ltd said.
