Samsung to introduce range of exclusive online products

Samsung, Korean electronics giant is planning to introduce exclusive online products as a part of its overall restructuring process.
This move by Samsung will give a cut throat competition to brands like Xiaomi, Motorola, Micromax and Vu who have tasted success in India with their online models.
The company is looking to design and manufacture mobile phones and consumer electronics such as TVs, specifically for online sales. In future, it may also launch a company-owned online sales channel.
Meanwhile, Samsung India is looking to hire an online category head who will report to Asim Warsi, VP, IT, marketing and mobile, Samsung India.
In India, where nearly 100 million smartphones were sold last year, around 30 per cent of them were sold online. Mobile phone sales make up for around 11 per cent of total e-commerce sales.
