Samsung targets $2 bn revenue

Korean electronics and appliances company Samsung India has said that the first quarter of the current fiscal is likely to post a healthy growth for the industry.

The company, which launched its new range of LED televisions in India, said it is targeting revenue of USD2 billion this year.

“We had posted a turnover of USD1.7 billion last year. This year, we are looking at a 30 per cent growth over the previous year. Light emitting diode (LED) television and mobile handset s will be a major growth engine for us,” said Jung Soo Shin, president and CEO, Samsung (South West Asia).

Speaking on the LED range, he said, “LED sales are expected to notch up at least 10 per cent of the total flat panel volumes in India”.

The new range of LED television is priced between Rs 1.25 lakh and 3.5 lakh and are available in 40” and 46” screen sizes.
