French fashion brand Lacoste enters Kerala

The new Lacoste store is located at Forum Mall, Maradu, Kochi

Bengaluru: French casualwear giant Lacoste has entered Kerala with its first retail store in Kochi, a company official wrote on social media. The new store is located at Prestige Group’s Forum Mall, Maradu.

“Vanakkam Kerala! The first store of Kerala, now open at Kochi, Forum Mall,” said Abhishek Raj, chief operating officer of Lacoste India in a LinkedIn post while sharing images of the new store.

The brand’s product portfolio entails apparel and accessories, leather goods, watches, sunglasses, perfumes, footwear and underwear.

Lacoste commenced its retail operations in India in 1993 and has since established approximately 40 stores across 17 cities in India over the course of three decades in the country.

The company aims to be a bit more aggressive with plans to open about 50 standalone stores in the country in the next five years, Marcus Meyer, chief executive officer of Lacoste for the Central and Northern European Region spoke to IndiaRetailing during his first visit to India. Founded in 1933 by French Tennis player Rene Lacoste and co-founder Andre Gillier, Lacoste is a French clothing brand which is said to be the first clothing brand in the world to feature its logo on its clothing.

The company today has over 1,000 stores and 15,000 points of sales in 98 countries and its products are also available across 32 online stores in the world.
