It is not everyday that one gets to see a millionaire businessman doning a delivery boy’s hat, but for homegrown e-commerce major Flipkart, it has become quite a ritual.
Last year, Flipkart co-founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal (not related), landed at the doorsteps of some Bengaluru-based customers to deliver products which had been ordered online in a bid to gain insights into the online buyer’s psyche by striking some great conversations.
This time around, the head honchos again turned delivery boys to both surprise their customers and gain firsthand experience of what consumers feel about brand Flipkart.
Where Chairman and Co-founder Sachin Bansal zeroed in on tier-II and III towns like Chandigarh and Punjab, Co-founder and CEO Binny Bansal took to Bengaluru to deliver the iPhone 7.
Here’s an inside look into the Bansals’ day-long delivery ‘road trip’:
Sachin Bansal delivered around 50 packages at various sectors in Chandigarh (his hometown). Bansal was really excited and tweeted: "Doing deliveries in Chandigarh today (my hometown). Very excited"
Sachin Bansal's first order was to the daughter of an Air Force employee and he said that he had "a great conversation with a lovely couple"
Sachin with his "efficient" delivery mates, wish masters: Rajinder and Mithun
Sachin Bansal also made a special delivery to the first online shopping customer from Jogewala village, Punjab
While Sachin delivered products in Chandigarh, Binny Bansal decided to deliver iPhone 7 on October 7 at 7 pm (within 30 minutes of the official launch of the smartphone in India) in Bengaluru
Binny's second delivery was to a couple who exchanged their old iPhone 6 and got 18k discount
Bansal said that 99 per cent of all the customer, who pre-booked iPhone 7 via Flipkart, got their phones delivered within 2 hrs of launch
