South India based FMCG company, CavinKare has evolved from being the pioneer in the shampoo-in-a-sachet business to newer innovations in various categories now aspiring to create a professional line of salon products to compete with the likes of international brands like Matrix, Schwarzkopf etc. “We’re looking to price it on a par with Matrix”, adds C K Ranganathan, MD, CavinKare. As for the market, there’s a ready testing ground with CavinKare’s salon chains—Limelite and Green Trends.
In the consumer products segment, while Fairever cream introduced a ‘fairness meter’ in a new package and formulation, Chik Shampoo added Vitamin H ‘for soft hair’, Indica Hair Colour promised hair colour in 10 minutes flat and Meera Shampoo is gearing up to take on the biggies in the mass-premium category such as P&G’s Pantene and Unilever’s Dove.
