PVR enters Chennai

Keeping in line with its aim of pan India expansion, PVR Ltd, one of the leading retail entertainment multiplexes in India, today launched its first multiplex in Chennai at Ampa City Walk. The seven-screen multiplex will have a seating capacity of 1,794 seats.

Pramod Arora, group president, PVR Ltd says, “South is an important market for PVR and today’s launch in Chennai is a step in the right direction to accomplish our expansion plans. This is indeed a great way to begin a new financial year. We plan to invest about Rs.120 crores this year and expand our presence across the country. For South India, specifically, we are looking at investing Rs.50 crores in the coming 18 months. We have very aggressive expansion plans for this year, not just in the multiplex space but also for PVR Pictures and bluO.”

“We are ecstatic about launching in Chennai. This city was on our expansion radar since long. This is our third multiplex in this region, after Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It is our constant endeavour to reach out to movie lovers and provide them the best in entertainment. PVR Cinemas in Chennai will boast of comfortable seating, candy bar, world class ambience and service. The digital screens are packaged to deliver ultimate movie magic to the cinegoers of Chennai. The theatres are equipped with E Cinema projectors from Real Image and state of the art sound system for real life sound effects.

With the launch PVR has its total screen count increase to 123 and has extended its presence to 17 cities across the nation.
