    Odyssey gets aggressive; charts growth plan

    The growth trajectory of Odyssey India seems to have grown across verticals and formats. Having won the bid for the retail space at the upcoming new domestic terminal 1D at the Delhi Airport, Odyssey has started work across the space totalling 6,500 square feet, forming majority of the retail space. The company has also formed partnership with other brands to complete the category mix.

    In an exclusive revealation to IndiaRetailing, , managing director, , reveals, “Tie-ups with brands include Croma for digital accessories, Metro for footwear, Guardian for pharmacy, Cookieman, , , Hidesign, Archies etc. The tentative launch is second or third week of April to coincide with the terminal launch. We have also taken two more kiosk spaces in the ‘arrivals’ terminal of the Delhi Airport.”

    Ashwin further informs that, further to their tie-up with the , Odyssey Express kiosk rollout has commenced at select Delhi Metro stations starting with the ones at Vishwavidyala and Chandni Chowk next week. The kiosks will stock books, music, cards, small impulse gifts, toys, etc in areas ranging from 200-500 square feet. The rollout in the first phase for 29 stations will be complete by the end of June 2009, according to Ashwin.

    The MD further informs about Odyssey’s plans, “Odyssey will also be opening two stores in Mumbai, at K Star Mall in Chembur where it is one of the anchors and at R Mall in Ghatkopar. Both stores will debut in May. In April, Odyssey’s The Eyewear Store will launch in Mumbai at , Mulund. The tentative launch is in the third or fourth week of April.”

    “Odyssey is also engaged in various projects, which are in the pipeline for the coming year at both mall and independent stores and through tie-ups with other players as shop-in-shop etc,” concludes Ashwin.
