Mother Dairy to sell jute bags to curb polythene use

Must Read

To curb polythene use, Mother Dairy has decided to sell jute bags at its milk booths and Safal retail stores in the national capital region.
According to a report in PTI: The jute carry bags will be sourced from Bird Jute and Exports Ltd, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles.
The jute carry bags will be priced at Rs 25 in the milk booths, while a larger size, suitable for carrying vegetables and groceries, will be available at Safal outlets for Rs 34.
This ‘green initiative’ was unveiled by Union Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar in the presence of Mother Dairy officials.
“By offering jute carry bags to our consumers at a nominal cost, we not only address the need for an environment-friendly alternative of carry bags but also benefit millions of our farmers engaged in cultivation of jute,” Mother Dairy MD S Nagarajan said in a statement.
