Rail Budget promises more retail opportunity

Must Read

The much awaited Rail Budget of Mamata Banerjee promises to strengthen retail opportunity in railway stations across the country. With several other service offerings to the passengers, Banerjee’s initiative to modernise 50 railway stations to world class standards gets appreciation from the retailers.

As part of the plan, the Government will develop multi-functional complexes (MFCs) in the proposed 50 stations including Vadodara, Pune and Bhuvaneswar. The MFCs will be developed in the station premises to offer quality shopping and eating options to the passengers.

The MFCs will house food courts and restaurants, book stalls, telephone booths, medical and gift stores and budget hotels.
