Bharti Retail plans expansion, to open 30 stores in NCR

Bharti Retail, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharti Enterprises, plans to open 30 stores in Delhi and national capital region (NCR) by the end of 2009, reports Mint.

The proposed locations include Kirti Nagar in West Delhi and Ghaziabad. However, the company is also in talks with various mall developers for some other locations.

The company currently operates 19 convenience stores called EasyDay in Punjab and Haryana, and one supermarket of about 25,000 square feet called EasyDay Market in Ludhiana.

Meanwhile, the company, with a 50:50 JV with Wal-Mart Stores Inc, which operates wholesale cash-and-carry stores, also plans to open around 15 cash-and-carry stores in the next seven years.
