Argos staff to go on strike

Must Read

Rejecting a four per cent hike in pay from Argos’ parent company, Home Retail Group, the chain’s distribution staff has decided to go for a series of 24-hour strikes, escalating to a four-day stoppage.

According to Jennie Formby, national secretary of trade union Unite, a below-inflation wage offer is a pay cut and this is totally unacceptable to their members. They are already struggling to keep up with rising food and energy costs.

She further informed that staffs from the chains’ various distribution centres have agreed to the strike and will lengthen it if required.
