Berggruen Hotels, backed by Berggruen Holdings with an equity capital of US$100 million, laid the foundation stone of the first Keys Hotel – a chain of boutique budget hotels in India, at Thiruvananthapuram. The foundation stone was laid by Sanjay Sethi, CEO, Berggruen Hotels.
In the first five years, 38 Berggruen Hotels will be operational and these will be evenly distributed across tier I, II and III locations across India. Each hotel will have 100 to 170 rooms. Initial pricing will be between Rs 1,400 and Rs 2,200.
Partha Chatterjee, chief marketing officer, Berggruen Hotels, said, “We have been actively pursuing sites in South India, like Pondicherry and Chennai. However, with Thiruvananthapuram growing as an industrial and IT centre as well as a hub for medical tourism in recent years, this is an opportune time for Keys to mark its foray into the burgeoning hospitality industry in the region. We are aiming to provide a defining brand of boutique budget hotels in India. We are certain that the Keys brand will provide a winning equation of quality and value pricing to customers.”
Keys aims to simplify the booking process for customers with an interactive website, a 24/7 call centre with toll-free access, booking through all ATMs around the country, a network of travel agents across the globe, and through popular travel-related websites.
