Subhiksha to roll out 1000 stores by year end

Subhiksha, the value retail chain, is expanding its operations furiously. After rolling out outlets in states like Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra, it has plans to expand in West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The company is going to increase its tally of stores from 120-odd stores in March 2006, to about 650 stores in March, 2007. The company has planned to open 1,000 stores by the end of 2007 and 2,000 stores in the next two years. The floor space will be increased to about 3.25 million sq.ft. by 2008-09, from present 1.3 million sq. ft.
