Emerging cities such as Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kochi are also driving the demand for Inventory and Supply Chain Executives
New Delhi: TeamLease EdTech’s Career Outlook Report for HY2 2024 (July-December) reveals a significant surge in hiring intent within India’s retail sector, rising to 54% from 46% in the previous period, the company said in a release on Friday.
This growth is attributed to rapid offline expansion in tier 2 and 3 cities and plans to open 60 new malls in tier 1 cities by 2025, the release added.
The demand for freshers is set to rise as the sector creates entry-level roles requiring a blend of traditional retail skills and modern digital expertise. High-demand positions include Retail Auditors, Supply Chain Executives, and Store Decorators, emphasizing technical and creative abilities to meet evolving customer expectations.
Regional trends and opportunities
Major metropolitan cities are leading the demand for specific roles:
- Bangalore (68%): Retail Auditors.
- Delhi (61%): Supply Chain Executives.
- Mumbai (57%): Store Decorators.
Emerging cities such as Pune, Ahmedabad, and Kochi are also driving the demand for Inventory and Supply Chain Executives, reflecting the growing influence of smaller urban hubs in retail’s growth story.
Upskilling for success
Aspiring candidates can enhance their career prospects by acquiring certifications such as Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), and Certificates in Digital Marketing.
