New Delhi: Omaxe Chowk, the much-talked-about shopping centre in the heart of New Delhi’s iconic high street Chandni Chowk will open to the public in the second week of March, a brand’s spokesperson told IndiaRetailing.

Spread across 4.5 acres, the project, which is set to redefine the retail and food experience of Purani Dilli (Old Delhi), recently received the ‘Occupancy Certificate (OC)’ from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Jatin Goel, Executive Director, Omaxe Group said.

“Spanning over 1.11 million sq. ft., this iconic destination offers an unparalleled shopping experience and will be featuring India’s largest food court, Dawatpur. A 70,000 sq. ft dedicated space for the jewellery section, making it the biggest jewellery hub of the market and a must-visit wedding shopping destination,” added Goel.

The food court will house a mix of national, international and local food service brands including Haldiram’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Subway, Biryani Blues, Berco’s, Nanking, Sagar Ratna, Dominos, KFC, WOW Momo’s, WOW China, Hira Sweets, Wah Ji Wah, Amritsari Express, Maska, Chicago Pizza, Bonjuz, Nazeer, Jung Bahadur Kachori, Kuremal ki Kulfi, Gaya Prasad Pranthe Wale, KDH Chaat, and Kunwar ji.

The design of Omaxe Chowk is inspired by the architectural heritage of the Mughal and British eras. With air-conditioned stores, parking facilities, and air purification systems among other features, it offers a blend of modern and traditional retail.

It features a 5-storey car park, having a capacity of 2100 vehicles. Besides this, brands like Kalyan Jewellers, Delhi 6 and Burger King have started their trial run and many other brands are in the last stage of fit-outs.

Goel informed that along Omaxe Chowk, the Group is coming up with a development in Dwarka, in association with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) that will have a prominent retail element.

“We are coming up with a ‘Sports City’, spread across 55 acres, which will have outdoor stadiums for football and cricket. There’s going to be an indoor stadium, and Olympic-sized swimming pool, along with a club, service apartments and some high street retail,” stated Goel.

The Group is also coming up with a mall in Vrindavan. “We have also curated an upcoming mall in Vrindavan. After the development of Ayodhya, people have started looking at spiritual destinations with high hopes and we are happy to contribute to this growth,” he added further.

Furthermore, Omaxe is working on the redevelopment of bus stands in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) in Ghaziabad, Lucknow and Prayagraj.

Founded by Rohtas Goel in 1987, Omaxe Group has delivered over 132 million sq. ft. of real estate space. It has delivered 21 group housing real estate projects, 10 integrated townships, and 14 commercial malls/office spaces/hotels/SCOs.
