The company forayed into the Middle East market in the year 2021 with its start in Dubai
New Delhi: Gurugram-based eyewear retail chain Lenskart has opened its first flagship store in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a social media post by a company official said on Thursday.
“Exciting News! Thrilled to announce the grand opening of the first Lenskart flagship store in Riyadh, KSA at the View Mall! Join us for an immersive eyewear experience, cutting-edge styles, and top-notch eye care services. Looking forward to serving the vibrant community of Riyadh,” said Mahmoud Elfeky, associate vice president retail, Lenskart in a LinkedIn post.
According to the company blog, Lenskart forayed into the Middle East market in 2021 with its first store opening in Dubai, UAE. The company at that time committed an investment of around $50 million for the expansion in the UAE market.
IndiaRetailing had earlier reported that Lenskart in the year 2021 raised $220 million in funding led by Temasek & Falcon Edge Capital to expand its presence in India as well as to scale its operations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Founded in the year 2010 by one of the judges from the Shark Tank, an Indian television show – Peyush Bansal along with his two co-founders Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi, Lenskart has over 1,100 stores across cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and other 1,100 cities across India as per the details of the company’s official website.
The retail stores from Lenskart and its online website feature over 5,000 eyewear styles. It is among the first companies in India that use robotic techniques in the eyewear sector.
It started in India with a plan to deliver value-for-money products devoid of middlemen.
