With our new store in Palakkad, we are not just expanding — we are becoming a part of this vibrant community! Rahul Phukan, Business Development Director at Decathlon Sports India, said in a LinkedIn post.
The international sports retailer entered India in 2009 and opened its first store in Bengaluru on Sarjapur Road. The company came to India as a cash-and-carry retailer and was approved for single-brand retail in 2013. Today, it operates more than 100 stores in 19 states across the country.
The company is planning to invest €100 million (Rs 930 crore) in India over the next five years to expand its presence. The funds will support new stores, digital upgrades, and value chain improvements. The retailer aims to increase its store count to 190 across 90 cities, including tier 1 and tier 2 towns.
