“Pota will succeed Ajay Kaul and would assume the role and responsibilities as CEO and whole time director and key managerial personnel of the company with effect from 1 April 2017,” the company said in a statement.
Pota is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management-Kolkata and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. Pota was Chief Executive Officer, food and beverages (company-owned operations) at PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt. Ltd, the local arm of American food and beverages company PepsiCo Inc. Before PepsiCo, Pota has worked with Bharti Airtel Ltd and Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
Pota said, “I feel privileged and humbled to be given an opportunity to lead India’s largest food service company. The Indian food services industry is poised for rapid growth and JFL, being the frontrunner, is well positioned to leverage this opportunity. I look forward to be a part of this exciting journey.”
Kaul had announced his decision to quit the company last year in September. The country’s largest quick service chain has been dealing with slowing sales for close to six quarters now, with consumers cutting back on discretionary spends and eating out.
