Patanjali's Acharya Balakrishna hails demonetization; announces more investment in Mihan project

Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, founded by yoga guru-turned-enterpreneur Baba Ramdev, plans to scale up its land holding in Mihan-SEZ in Nagpur by 40 acres – taking it to 330 acres – for its ambitious modern food-park project.
The company is eyeing export of herbal medicine through its Nagpur project, now under development, which aims to provide employment opportunities to nearly 10,000 persons.
Patanjali got a bid for setting up this modern park in August this year from Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). The company has land both in the SEZ and non-SEZ parts of Mihan.

“(Maharashtra) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked Patanjali to further invest in Nagpur after which the group has planned to take up another 40 acres in SEZ. Around 80 per cent of the output will be exported. Stress will be on exporting herbal medicine as there is not much market for herbal cosmetics,” CEO of Patanjali group, Acharya Balkrishna said during the inaugural function of Annual Global Nagpur Summitt 2016 held at Persistent System’s campus in IT Park.
At present, Patanjali has 230 acres in non-SEZ and 60 acres within SEZ area of Mihan.
While talking about Prime Minister Naerndra Modi’s demonetization drive, Balakrishnan said,”Demonetization has hit the very root of corruption. It’s like Ram Rajya. There are lot of rumours that people are not happy with the decision. But it’s not true, majority of people have liked the decision and are satisfied with whatever limited amount they are getting.”

“PM has taken a very bold step and it will help in weeding out entire black money from the system. We should support the Government’s decision whole-heartedly,” Balakrishnan said.
Talking about Patanjali and what mark it has made in the country since its launch, Balakrishnan said, “Today, Patanjali has made its mark in the minds of consumers. You may like it or hate it but you cannot ignore Patanjali. The company’s advertisements talk straight about our products, instead of giving an oblique statement like using a particular toothpaste can win you a girlfriend.”
