They have recently advanced the winter session of parliament to ensure that the government gets adequate time to get parliamentary nod for the supporting legislation.
Parliament will once again have to take up three relevant bills — one to permit the central government to levy a Central GST, another for an Integrated GST where more than one state is involved and then a model bill to facilitate states to levy their respective state GST.
While the Government has indicated to launch a drive for awareness and education among stakeholders, CAIT aims to be an extended arm of the Government by launching a series of “town hall” all over the country.
” The proposed GST law being a e-system based tax structure has certain vital provisions whose implications and compliance procedure need to be understood by every supplier of goods and services. In view of the same, we are planning to launch this where traders will be given first hand knowledge of GST and will be trained as to how the GST system can be complied including filing of return and availing seamless input tax credit beside making e-compliance,” CAIT said in a perss release.
In the first phase, the CAIT will hold town hall at New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pondichery, Nagpur, Raipur, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahemadabad, Surat, etc.
