According to a PTI report: It said that Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Consumer affairs will be the nodal officer for addressing the grievances.

The commerce ministry has said that it would help the Consumer Affairs Ministry in building the capacity to deal with such complaints.

The development assumes significance as Paswan and Commerce Minister had recently discussed issues related to consumer grievances against e-commerce companies.

Government has also warned some e-commerce firms of stringent action for not responding to its queries on customer grievances.

Nearly 46 companies, including Flipkart, Xiaomi, Olx.in and Bookmyoffer.com, have not been responding to mails sent to them with regard to redressal of such grievances.

The Commerce and Industry Ministry had already launched ‘Twitter Seva’, to address issues and grievances of startups, exporters and importers, and other stakeholders.
