As more and more companies invest in marketing products, it is always interesting to make note of brands that occupy the topmost slots in consumers’ minds. With an aim to find top brands in the Indian market, Market Xcel collaborated with Nikkei BP Consulting (Japan) to conduct a study in India.
Over 2,800 Indians, half of them women, participated in the  survey and ranked their favourite brands on the basis of friendliness, convenience, individuality and innovation. Using multiple brand images and different versions of questionnaires, the survey is a comprehensive exercise that studied consumer perception of 80 global brands and 40 local brands from 14 distinct categories.
The top 10 brands in India are from technology, FMCG, automobile and retail sectors, which is very similar to the trend observed in 2015. While last year there were four homegrown brands among the top 15 brands, this year the top 10 brand list includes three homegrown brands.
