K Madhavan is one of the pioneers of the concept of branded mattresses in India. He founded Peps Industries Pvt. Ltd. in 2006. In the last one decade he has been instrumental in building a Rs 1,000 crore empire. K Madhavan, with his industry acumen and immense foresight, had a revolutionary vision – to position Inner Spring Mattresses as ‘affordable luxury’.
He started his journey as a management trainee in the rubber industry and joined Kurl-On, Bangalore in 1977. During his tenure in the company, he became an integral part of the growth story of Kurl-On. By 2006, when the company had already reached its pinnacle in the mattress industry, he was serving as President of Operations for Kurl-On.
He focused single-handedly on building Peps into a leader in the spring mattress segment, while the focus of the industry, back then was on the conventional coir mattresses.
He is also an active participant in several management development programmes conducted by IIMs. He is a member of All India Rubber Industries Association (Tech Class) and has also been certified by Crest Com, Colorado in Management Science.
He holds a Executive MBA from SP Jain, Mumbai and Post-graduate Diploma in Polymer Technology from Indian Rubber Institute.
