Freecharge partners with Shuttl for cashless commute

Freecharge has partnered with bus aggregator Shuttl to help over 15,000 commuters in Delhi- NCR to go cashless for their daily commute. Consumers can pay for their ride on Shuttl app using the Freecharge wallet in less than 10 seconds.
“With this partnership, we will make in-roads in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad and influence daily habits of commuters to move from cash to digital payments,” the company said in a press statement.

With over 20,000 rides per day and approximately 400 buses at over 100 routes, Shuttl will be able to offer its commuters a swifter and secure way to pay. As per the partnership Shuttl will also get instant access to millions of wallet users and leverage the best-in-class payment gateway.

“Our partnership with Shuttl is another step in the direction to make daily payments more convenient for consumers. To drive adoption of digital payments we need to ensure payments are not just safer but swifter than cash too. Commuters now don’t need to tender exact cash for their rides and can seamlessly complete their payment process in less than 10 seconds,” Chief Business Officer, Freecharge, Sudeep Tandon said.
Co-Founder, Shuttl, Amit Singh said: “Shuttl and Freecharge will work together to enhance customer experience through this partnership. Together we will be able to drive the adoption of shared commute on a tech platform that will give consumers a safe, reliable and comfortable ride. ”
Over the last six months, Freecharge has expanded its network with as many as offline players to leverage the virtual wallet facility for day to day transactions. As per a Nielsen study, the reach of the Freecharge app grew from 17 per cent to 30 per cent in the period October 2015 to April 2016, making it the fastest growing digital payments app in India.
This is the highest growth in app usage for any payments app in the country.
