Must Read

Viviana Mall, a leading retail destination mall in Mumbai Metropolitan Region has partnered with ‘PANKH’- Wings of Destiny (a joint initiative of TRRAIN and Youth4Jobs Foundation) to open a center for training and shaping careers of Persons with Disabilities (PwD’s) within the premises of the mall.
Viviana Mall, India’s first and only visually impaired friendly mall, passionately runs Viviana XRCVC resource centre for visually impaired people. The PANKH centre is the mall’s second initiative inside the mall premises to support equal access and opportunities for persons with disabilities to further empower them and give direction to their career.
‘PANKH’ is a joint initiative by TRRAIN (Trust for Retailers & Retail Associates of India) and Youth4Jobs Foundation which aims to create an inclusive workforce in retail, which leads to sustainable livelihood for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
Viviana Mall and PANKH have come forward and inaugurated a dedicated training center to train Persons with Disabilities (PwD) with skills required for retail jobs and provide employment through their strong network of more than 80 retailers driving inclusion in their organizations.
Commenting at the inauguration, MD, Viviana Mall, Ashwin Sheth said, “Viviana-XRCVC Centre has helped many visually impaired to become self sufficient. It is our endeavour to empower these people and hence, we decided to go a step ahead in order to cater to the needs of differently-abled. With PANKH we saw the right opportunity to address the limited career opportunities most PWDs get. They will now have a chance to opt for a career in the growing retail sector.”
36 speech and hearing impaired (SHI) candidates have already enrolled for the training centre on the day of its inauguration. The centre reflects the efforts put forth by Viviana Mall and Pankh as a socially conscious organization that promotes an inclusive environment for growth and strives for livelihood creation for PwD’s in the retail sector.
Founder, TRRAIN, BS Nagesh said, “PANKH has given wings to more than 3100 persons with disabilities but the population of persons with disabilities in India is more than 28 million. Collaborating with an organization like Viviana Mall who is so sensitive towards persons with disabilities of India, would help us to reach more PWDs and offer better career opportunities for them.”
Trained candidates of PANKH in the past have been placed in hypermarkets, supermarkets, department stores, quick service restaurants etc. and earn about Rs 7,000 – Rs 8,500 per month. 30 PWDs per batch would be trained with skills required for the retail sector.
